seems like she's strong but also wishes she didn't have to use that strength so much in self-protection.

That's exactly right. She doesn't want to have to use that strength so much to put up this front to everyone else that she's all right when she really isn't. I think she's strong but afraid a lot of times to tap into that strength when it comes to thinks like risk-taking and trusting because clearly things have not always been brilliant for her at school with her peers.

I didn't want to go with the clear-cut schmoopy romantic ending, as that felt TOO cheesy. I felt like the hopeful ending, that, at the very least, they were forming a real friendship would be better suited to the characters. Draco definitely felt a kinship with Millicent because she wasn't like the other people in their house - he didn't have to posture around her; he could let his guard down a little and be real, becuase he knew that Millicent would always be real and honest with him in turn.

I had such a wonderful time writing this fic; I wouldn't doubt it if sometime in the future I write this Millicent and Draco again.

Thank you VERY much for letting me know what you thought about this; I was extremely apprehensive about this, moreso than with anything else I've ever written.
