This story was a bit close to home in some parts and even though it's been over ten years since I've been a person of Millicent's age, it can seem like yesterday, really. Teens can be cruel (as you know all too well) and I really felt like it was necessary *not* to give Millicent some sort of miraculous transformation a la She's All That or something as ugh - real life isn't like that. Most of the time the awkward, insecure, pudgy girl STAYS that way and she has to either learn to accept herself or set out to change her lifestyle. And I think the healthiest thing to do first is become happy with who you are, how you are.
