You thought you would. You made several different plans in your mind about just what you would do if he happened to say or do scenario A, B, C, or so forth. You had planned for just about anything. Anything but this.
‘This’ is the warm feeling in the pity of your belly that is working its way up and out slowly to every last bit of your body. ‘This’ is the tingly sensation in your heart, in your throat, in the tis of your fingers. ‘This’ is the overwhelming desire to forgo all restraint and launch yourself at him, to run your fingers through that shaggy ginger hair that is likely messier than your own, if that was at all possible.
You don’t know what to do when he walks toward you.
‘This’ is making it hard to think. You back up a step or two but that doesn’t feel right so you awkwardly shuffle back to where you’d started. You stare at him and Plan A, the One Where You Tell Him To Leave and Never Come Back Because It Is For His Own Good, surfaces in your mind. You push it aside. You stare.
You don’t know what to do when he says your name.
You have heard him say your name before, countless times. But it has been nearly four months since you last saw him, since you left him to go do this on your own. It has been nearly four months and the sound of his voice is sweeter than the sweetest sound you have ever heard.
He stops directly in front of you, looking down at you with those big blue eyes you could read so easily and suddenly you know what to do.
You know what to do when he is so close.
‘This’ flares up and consumes you, threatens to burn you alive from the inside out as you lean in and press your lips against his. And when he is moaning into your mouth and your tongues are sliding together, you know that this is how it is meant to be…for Your Own Good.
